VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty

Quick question, is the extended warranty still available after the standard warranty has elapsed (by a couple of weeks) or does it have to have current warranty?

It has to be current otherwise, it will be extended warranty for used VWs which has a $2000 limit on repairs.

But according so some people who have bought extended warranties, some dealers have been able to massage the dates and sold new car extended warranties to them even though their original warranty has lapsed.

I know for a fact that Jamil won't massage the dates for you. He does it by the book.

He is away on holidays. His mobile should still work. Failing that, just call Narellen Subaru and ask to speak to him. (even though he is assigned to a Subaru dealership now, he can still sell you the VW extended warranty [Allianz]).

I got the extended warranty for the Eos (TSI not TDI) for around $1,400 but that was at the time I was negotiating to buy the car new so I had some leverage. Did you mention this forum to Kim and press for a better price? Remember the saying, if you don't ask you don't get!

Yep, same price for a T5. There is a cheaper one for $1400, but, as mentioned earlier, you are limited to a max. $2000 per claim......and (I'm not 100% certain on this) once you have had something repaired, you can't make another claim for the same item later. As I said, I am not 100% this was the case, but there was something dodgey that I didn't like about the cheaper policy. It might have been that there was a maximum number of claims per year??????

I am afraid you are confusing two different types of warranty. One is an extension of the new car warranty and must be bought prior to the new car warranty running out. This warranty does not have a cap on the cost of repair.

The warranty you are referring to is the extended used car warranty. This warranty can be taken out after the original 3 year warranty has lapsed. This warranty has the $2K cap.

You can get either warranty for around $1100-1400 from Jamil and Jaz.

My T5 van was still under the new car warranty. The dealer was trying to sell me a cheaper "extended warranty" which is the same as the extended used car warranty. They did explain the disadvantages of the cheaper warranty. I am not sure about NSW, but here in Vic., The extended warranty, which is under written bu Allianz, is $2400.

Now please re-read my post, most of my comments are about the extended used car warranty, NOT the extension of the new car warranty. My point was that some dealers, including my local dealer, try to sell you the extended used car warranty because it is cheaper instead of the extension of the new car warranty.

Did you tell them you saw the deal on VWwc? They don't discount every policy - just groups like this one.

That's great but anyone in Australia can buy from Kim, Jaz or Jamil & get a 30% discount if they mention VWwc. That would knock the T5 warranty back to ~$1700

Kim & Jaz are Southern Classic @ wollongong. Jamil is Denlo IIRC
