  • R32 Brakes?

    Hi All

I have an R32 which is 2.5 yrs old and the brakes have started to squeak...I have done 26,000KM.

Occasionally I also hear a muffled noise as i brake which is so hard to describe but it sort of sounds like some one going 'shhhhhh'.

When I had the new tyres ( x4!) fitted 2 months ago, they advised all was OK but i wanted to get opinions on here + if you can recommend where I should go to have them looked at in the Eastern Suburbs in Sydney.

I get the Tyres from Tyresome and I need to check they do brakes as there service and pricing is spot on. They are based in East Sydney.

Any helpful hints would be great.

    Cheers

Brake squeal is caused by vibration or movement in the pads,my guess is the pads are more than half worn by now so when you hit the brakes there is a little play between the back of the pad and the calliper piston,a good dab of copper grease on the back of the pad should sort this out.

In a "safe" place try giving the brakes a HARD workout until they are Hot and drive normally without using brakes for about 10 mins till they cool down.
: 100kph to 20 a few times (assuming you have checked pad and rotor condition!)
May just be a build up of crud or no coating on disks from pads.

This is the part immediately before you start seeing smoke.
