      Usually 670-750.
      Mostly driving around Canberra.
Trips - Canberra - Melbourne and then some driving around before filling up. The GTI is economical (never thought I'd say that!)

For the first 100 hrs I averaged 7.7l/100km, so typically about 570km between fill-ups. For the next 100 hrs I averaged about 8.1l/100km (more of a lead foot...).

Recently, I've tried to drive as economically as possible while keeping up with traffic, and I'm averaging about 7l/100km and got about 700km before the fuel level warning came on.

Not as good as the oilers, but way better than say my 1.8l Corolla which gets about 10l/100k with similar driving (and much less enjoyment...).

I'm driving to Canberra next week and will be interested in the fuel comsumption (first real highway trip).

Always get over 1000km per tank. which works out just on 5l/100km. Admittedly over 80% of my driving is freeway.
have noticed though in the last few days, our overnight temps have been around 10c which does affect the fuel efficiency. Where i'd normally sit on 4.6l/100km (trip computer) it's now 5.3 and this is always with very little traffic or strong winds. Bring back summer!

1000? How do you make it show that much! haha

Even 750 is pretty good. City or H'Way? Agressive or calm?

Mine shows abotu 850 as soon as I fill it up but as said previously I only get about 800, sometimes less! (Like this time, just made it to 700)

Lots of freeway driving. I don't think I'm aggressive but my children compare me to their father and they disagree.

I like to rev it to 3000 between gears. Like to feel that turbo kick in

My last three tank fulls all around town, including driving peak hour 5 days a week from Rowville to the Docklands I've the following:-

                    Km litres
                    855 52
                    809 50
                    858 52

I get well over 1000 per tank when interstae travelling with 3 adults and luggage.

                    Happy motoring

Generally 550 to 620 out of a full tank, best effort so far has been 725 out of a tank and that was on a cruise lol.

We wouldn't expect anything less from a Jetta Pilot!!

WOW 725's a great effort! I didn't even get that out of my Diesel tank last week! And compared to my old Mk4.. I was lucky to get 500.. So hell yeah that's an effort all right!

These poll results would be a lot more insightful if there were a separate poll for each different Golf engine.

Similarly, it would help if those posting different driving ranges per tank posted details of the model they drove (or included such details in their signature).

Around town, mostly short trips, we get up to about 480km out of the GTI (at which point it really needs refilling). That's about 11.5l/100km.

On a recent long trip we averaged 7.3l/100km (according to the trip computer) with a very full load and Thule roof box on top.

Of course the best way to gauge actual consumption is to keep a log book and see how much fuel is used over an extended period.

But these figures do show up the inaccuracy of the official figures quoted for each model. Hopefully the new urban only figures VW is quoting will be more accurate however I doubt they'll truly reflect the real world.

I just got 661 with 4.9L left in tank showing on Scan gauge 2 digital meter. NOTE: I probably had 6.9L left as I set the fuel tank capacity to 53L only for safety.
This was the readout when range on the MFD hit Zero. I think I could have got to 750 if I had used the last 7L
