Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Saw this on the Mk4 forum and thought it'd be interesting to see what we get.. Cast your vote now!

When I fill up, the MFD normally reads about 850. But I normally average around 770-810 (city only).

Very heavily tuned pirelli. About 400ks a tank.

Can't complain considering the power it's getting though.

If I don't spool her up, I'd get a lot more - but where's the fun in that?

May as well trade it in and buy a GT Sport TSI if you're going to do that!

'Course it's difficult NOT to spool up a TSI - if it's not the turbo, it's the s/c winding up. Still, not too many of us are aware of that...

It's no fun without the supercharger

When I fill mine up and the MFD says around 800-820Km.... but get around 600-650 to the tank....

Ive only just acquired my R32 but best i have obtained on a full tank of 98RON was 440KM. Not what id call fuel efficient, but that involved abit of "fun" between trips.

650 worst, 975 best effort thus far. Averages 800's with plenty of flat to the floor action.

Worst i got was about 540kms witht the MFD reading 50km to empty. I think a bit of bad fuel and some heavy traffic contributed to that.
Best, 670kms with just under a quarter of a tank of fuel. And average weekly around the 610km mark (all peak hour driving with a bit of traffic light boost).

Obviously depends upon city or highway driving, but best highway driving (cruise set to 100) was 720kms and with 130kms distance-to-empty (so say 830-850 for the tank) ... 2008 GTI. MFD was reading an average of around 6.5kms/per 100 which was quite on the money.

jetta 2.0T chipped. when filled up the MFD shows anywhere from 750 - 850k's. usually get around 550k's out of 3/4 of a tank before a refill - suburban driving.
on a trip to Qld we averaged 7.5L/100k's.
