I picked it up off a guy on E-bay in the US, they just stick on with a very effective 3M tape.... completely removable also.... I have details if anyone is interested.

Absolutely!Originally posted by maca View PostNow all you have to do is remove that fugly number plate backing and you'll be blingin!
That's one mod I would make. As long as it is quick, easy and inexpensive. I.E I can unscrew the thing myself and underneath is all that chrome and I just as easily screw the plates back on.

It's quick, easy and effective.
But be warned, you will have 4 black dots (like on my grill, as you can see in this pic http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...1&d=1240386643) where the holder used to be and you'll have to either drill new holes into the grill or use some tape to hold your current plates on.Last edited by maca; 26-04-2009, 02:58 PM.2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 - 2007 Mazda 3 GT - 1998 Ford Contour Sport - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T - 2013 Volkswagen Passat 130TDI - 2015 Ford Escape 1.5 - 2016 Subaru WRX - 2018 Volkswagen Golf R Wolfsburg Wagon

Hmm well if you look closely, the fillers that hold the backing to the grill can actually go back into the grill. Best bet is to paint them chrome so they don't stand out like balls on a Doberman. And yeah, i've found that while you've got the grill off, it's easier to use the inner frame as a guide to exactly where the holes should go (not too low so that the plate sits over the lower grill).Originally posted by jettapilot View PostHave you replaced the black screws in the holes?
I could replace them with chrome ones and get the husband to drill the new holes.
As said previously, lemme know and i'll pm you some instructions and pics and what not

Yeah ... remove the number plate holder.. just drill out the plastic plugs or push them from behind.
I would just use some chrome hole plugs to fill in the 4 holes. "You can find this sorta thing in many bathroom accessories which are chrome and have covers for screws etc.*Disclaimer - Don't rely on me, seek your own professional advice. Audi R8 E-tron. 230kw 4500nm! (not a typo).
