Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New Owner.. Possible issue..

Hi guys, just got me a 05 Golf 2.0 TDi DSG.. 50,000ks..

Everything seems very good and i am happy with my purchase however at approx 40-50kmh i feel a thump thump thump under my feet i can feel it in the passenger seat as well.. almost as if you are travelling on a bad road..

i am not sure if its a 'feature' or if something is wrong.. car seems to behave perfectly and feels great under foot and around corners..

Is this something that just happens with this model or is it something that needs attention?

Definately not normal. Back to the dealer if that's where you got it, or to a local recommended VW specialist for a look. Sort it out before it becomes worse, doubt it will "heal" itself.

hmm.. that aint good its under dealer warranty so will get them to check it out..

one other question about my new car.. can you just have atmospheric temperature coming through the vents?

Ie no heating no aircon.. just outside air?

cant seem to work it out..

There seems to be a large lower assembly which the engine/gearbox/suspension all attach to gets bolted to the body of the car. This could be flopping around.

I know mine makes a popping/cracking noise when the body flexes.

Need to book it in once it gets worse.
