Yeah i intend to keep this car long so knowing these engines are built sturdily is a reassuring thought. Can't afford to buy an expensive car and offload them every 2 or so years. All the $$$ will go towards servicing and next on the agenda is the Extended warranty.

Yeah, I am going to give myself a few months to look around for the right car. Saw an 07/07 R32 5dr in United Grey without roof but with Sat Nav and 30K on the clock. Was a bit late in the enquiry (about 1 hr). Some dude from Melbourne bought it for $40K. The car was in Sydney.Originally posted by Vdubya View PostYeah i wasn't going to let the dealer in any way stuff me around and i had obtained legal advice from various members at work, who are solicitors so i was going to be prepared for whatever could happen and gain representation.
I've seen most people on the fence about the whole interior but im of the impression it certainly looks alot better in person. I was set on acquiring a GTI/R32 with a beige interior so fulfilled that goal. Don't know how i really feel about the inserts though, but i can live with it. Yeah i may acquire a darker tint, down the track when i've saved up a substantial amount.
I understand you've driven the R32 already and GTI as well. I think if your persistent enough you might score yourself a good buy especially if you give yourself a solid few months to look. Last thing you want is buyers remorse. But all and all whichever path/vehicle you take im sure youll be happy, the tech in these cars alone will keep me busy for time to come.
Are you going to do any mods regarding your Stereo/Nav? I know when I acquire mine, I reckon I will read more on the Audio Forum to see what the experts do to make it better. From what I've read so far, all the amps/speakers/subbies look really schmick.....sigpic2009 .:R32 • 5Door • Black Magic • DSG • Sunroof • Stubby Antenna

Damn, that is a very good price. I am on the hunt for an R32 as well. I may have to rethink about getting it brand new (esp. if I can score one at that price).Originally posted by aristocrat View PostYeah, I am going to give myself a few months to look around for the right car. I am at the same crossroad. Second hand prices are still fairly spiked. You even see some 06 or 07 models asking $50K. Dealers are softening up a bit and VW was having a free on road cost month in Feb, so a 5dr DSG on road is RRP$58,900. Some dealers are still honouring this no on road cost since they're trying to offload the rest of the MkV, and they will relent to maybe $2-3K no trade discount, so making a new one on road just about $56K.Originally posted by kctt View PostDamn, that is a very good price. I reckon if you can score an 07 for around $40K, then its reasonable. Remember that the new car would have "0"Km on it and full 3 year warranty, let alone fresh battery, tyre, brake rotors, pads and Nil engine wear.....
So, the long and the short is I reckon, if an 07 is up to $45K - forget it, and if you can afford it - just haggle with the dealer and get a brand spanking new one...sigpic2009 .:R32 • 5Door • Black Magic • DSG • Sunroof • Stubby Antenna
