Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Possessed Sunroof - opens by itself

Guys, I have a sunroof that is doing funny things

It opens by itself sometimes, and this is when it has not been touched for several weeks

I am wondering if it may be something like this

audi a4 modification mod mods abs repair amp amprack blackout bumper calipers clear clearcorner debadge detail exhaust bov dv stealth k&n library oil change pod gage radar fiberglass sub install rim repair curb curbed curbage stereo install stock headunit head unit shortshifter short shifter stealth tail jetta sub library gallery video wheels colors suspensions links clutch install remove swap coolant G62 G28 InPro Boost detailing BOV DV Neuspeed Rim ABS K&N

    Has anyone experienced this before?

Mine does on big bumps on the road.

Its funny but sort of expected. The latch tongue for it is too small. No doubt to make it feel nicer or be less clunky to operate. Not much can be done about it except perhaps to put a single layer of selotape on the latching point to boost up its size slightly which should hold it tighter.

Might I suggest that if you have warranty on the car, take it to the dealer and get it fixed. There's no point pulling it apart and messing with it if it can be done under warranty at no cost to you

Yom, the same thing should apply to you, but as it would appear your whole car is possessed anyway, an exorcism would probably be a better option

I was wondering what latch & selotape???

Edit: my car never have problems with sunroof/sunglass holder open by themselves... just some squeeks from front suspension on big bumps

I still think your car needs an exorcism performed on it
