Interior leather bits - Dubbin?

Who's used Dubbin on their interior leather bits (ie: steering wheel, handbrake, gearshift surround) ?

I don't want to buy leather conditioner, I am thinking of just using Dubbin. The pleather parts are starting to look a bit a bit dry.

Haha you really try to save money wherever you can! If your really that cheap that your considering using Dubbin on a MKV GTI then go and use some hand moisturising cream, I used some on my crappy VR6 steering wheel and its a bit better...

And besides Dubbin sticks and smears to everything, I would really keep it away from the interior of your car...

I used to use Dubbin on my old work boots, it's pretty greasy, and I could really only see it collecting more dust and ending up ground into the grain of your leather seats. Just had a quick look online and Dubbin do make proper leather conditioner and other products which are not overly expensive and would be suitable to use. Well I gave it a go anyway. Its designed for use on leather, and thats what I'm using it on.

I tested it on the gear selector boot (easily replaced if there's an issue).

Apply a small amount and then buff it into the pleather with the other side of the clean cloth.

Has made it feel much better - no longer dry feeling.

Handbrake material won't respond to it very well, its too plasticy.

Steering wheel responds nicely (it is real leather suprisingly enough).

PS: Its no worse than people using armour-all on their controls. No tacky or slippery feeling more than when it was brand new. Dubbin is only greasy if you use too much or don't rub it in afterwards. Alot of leather conditioners makes leather slippery until it soaks in too.

Will be using lanolin on all the rubber seals in the near future as well in an effort to soften them up and minimise the squeaky noises they make.

Yep, alot of products do. There's a couple of mainstream frabric cleaning and leather conditioning products which will rot the stitching in seats if you use too much and let it sit for too long.

It's very good for dry, leathery elbows as well, and works a treat on dry, itchy scalps. You don't have to waste money on shampoos either

For a moment there I actually thought I may not have been a complete bogan but now I realise you're just taking the piss as if you were able to use Dubbin on your scalp you'd probably be hairless.

Going of recent posts in another thread (they'll know what I'm talking about) it would appear that from a TSI owners point of view there's nothing quite like something well oiled to park your butt on
