Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Agree. Also learn how to use the search function before asking questions.
Not that theres anything wrong with asking questions but search first.

My apologies all, I was not aware of the requirement to make such information available, it was certainly not made clear when I signed up and I thought posting in the Golf Mk 5 area would have been enough.

I am very familiar with the search function, used it for two nights trying to find the info, not stating that I did search was perhaps a mistake. Needless to say the specific answer wasn't found there, at least not by me anyway, so I ventured out and asked a question. Perhaps that was a mistake on my part also.

I've also spoken directly with the Aust seller of the ScanGauge II and he was not aware of one being installed in a Golf Mk 5 TDI, he also recommended this forum as a great source of information and a very friendly and welcoming bunch of Golf enthusiasts. mmmmmmmm

So, can anyone answer the question or point me to a thread that I did not find in my searches that specifically answers the question?

Thanks all and sorry again for not completing the info and informing you that I had tried the search function without success.

Don't let the grumpy few get you down. I think people are touchy due to the number of new posters who get on here and ask similar questions without searching.

To be fair to this bloke people, there would be few threads with the words Scanguage II in them. Hard to search don't you think?

Polar is about the only guy that is running a Scanguage II to my knowledge, but he has a GT TSI, not that I'd see it as that different from the guage point of view.

I'm sure he'd happily talk your arms off about how great it is. Just don't let him talk you into drilling holes in your battery ( he's the resident weight weenie )

I'm sorely tempted, instead of going the newsouth gauge pod....

Thanks for that Greg. I didn't use the 2 but the II, probably why it didn't come up or I dismissed as it didn't specifically mention the Mk 5. I'm new to the Golf so the pic didn't imediately register as a Mk 5.

Thanks also for the welcome. Looks like I should just get one and see what happens.

I have a TDI and if I didn't have aftermarket gauges already, heck, I'd get one! Also costs less than a decent boost guage alone!

Just not sure if there's enough posting room for the both of you on the one Forum. You may have to reduce your font size a bit so there's room for all of us to have our say

A search on scanguage shows three threads, a post search brings back two posts (four if you count this new thread)

Which aftermarket gauges are you using mate? I like the idea of oldschool, non digital gauges - at least for the essentials (boost, oil pressure etc)...

I'd prefer the A piller mounted style gauges, but I don't think you can get those for the Mk5 can you? (Airbags and all.. damned things)...

Oh and welcome to the original poster. Don't worry, once you spend some time here - any opinions you may have now regarding good manners from fellow dubbers will only get worse.. haha.

                              I don't have a colourful sig either. I think it's a psychological thing, I dunno.
