I accidently filled up the GTI today with Caltex Vortex Premium (RON 95) instead of Vortex 98. Can this cause any damage to the engine?
Should I drain and replace?
Won't be a problem. If you check your fuel filler lid (and operators manual) you will notice that whilst 98 is recommended, 95 is listed as an alternative. Your ECU will adjust (and most likely slightly reduce power) and readjust when you refuel with 98.

forgot to mention in my other post, because of the lack of 98 down here meant APR wrote a program to suit our GTIs with 95 octane down here. That took them 2 days to sort that out and it was all good until we got Ultimate whereas I reflashed with the 98 program.

I did that just last week with caltex too. I drove the car as hard as possible to get that crap out of the tank, hated it. The throttle response was rubbish, top end power rubbish, fuel consumption (when sanely driven) Rubbish. Got BP today, more expensive, but goes like steroids.

How could you test top end... have you been speeding?
the very first tank of fuel i put in was vortex 95 thinking it was the 98. being a noob to premium petrol i didnt know too much hahahaha.
car ran fine though, but as soon as i got to half tank, i topped up with 98.
I put a tank of Vortex 95 into the TSI and it was fine for sedate running. It is more responsive on 98, though. Haven't tried any E-blend, though.
