  • VAG COM Data Logging

Sometime ago Im sure I someone here posted some data logging/graphs they had done on their vag com, specifically KW/Torque, Air fuel ratio. Ive searched everywhere and cant find it

As a new vag com user Im struggling to work out how this is done..Is it in the measuring blocks area?? If someone could let me know how this is done or direct me to some specific instructions relating to this, it would be appreciated.

Also what is the stock boost/PSI of a TFSI? Vag com is giving me approx 2200mbar which I have worked out to high teens (correct me if im wrong) which seems about right for a chipped car.

    Thanks in advance.

It's in the measuring blocks as you say.

2200Mbar is 1.2 BAR of boost which is probably 17-18PSI.

Look at ross-tech.com for information on how to use the software.

On 1.8Ts I look at blocks 020, 031 and 115 when data logging, not sure if they are the same on your car.

I'm still new to this too, but the online manual is very very helpful. The first part of the mystery is to find an appropriate channel, which has the parameters you want to log, and then you indeed go into logging. Have a play with the car at idle and you can trial a short log. This is saved and can be imported into excel, and produce a graph. Be careful just how long and how often you set it to log, as you can end up with a LOT of data, and it can be tricky to find the part you actually want to graph.

There's an accelerometer in there too, have a play, it's a lot of fun. Auto start too, by the way!

If you click the up arrow on the top block it will cycle through and if you have the right version of VAG-COM it tells you what you are looking at most of the time.

You nearly always get engine speed but you need to find requested and actual boost. Timing retard and MAF airflow.

What like these? That should also answer your question about stock boost.

Note that the power/torque graph is a theoretical value based on the crank angle sensor. The power is calculated from the theoretical torque value produced by the ECU. It gets thrown out of whack once you're developing more torque than stock, so don't pay any attention to the actual numbers.

Sorry I don't have time to sit down and write up how to do it all, but perhaps if you have a specific question I can help. I believe "funny" on the golfmkv forum wrote an instructional thing up a while back.

            Thanks for the info guys.

I think im on the right track its just a case of playing around a bit more and finding the right blocks.

mrx - yeah these are the exact graphs I remember seeing. You must have posted them a while ago.

            Thanks again.
