  • Golf V service

hi all, just needed to vent my frustration (or at least i what i think is)

i booked my car in for a service today and have had a lil bit of a rough ride with my service centre.

anyways, so i get there at 8am as they told me, and the stupid receptionist forgot to book me in, anyways i she booked me and i was the first of the cars booked for that day to arrive (major 60K service).

anyways i was told that my car will be ready by 4pm and if there's anything they find they will call me.

anyways no calls so i arrive there at 4pm and the car is still not ready??? and then they tell me i need new pads and discs for my breaks. i was like why is my car after all this time not ready and why didn'tyou call me>>??

so i'm stuck with a car that was given back to me an hour after they promised along with it being dirty..

is this normal VW service? i went to an original service center in liverpool, and i feel so angry, for a European car and the amount i pay'd i feel i did not get treated fairly, i wanted to know everyone else's views?

did i get screwed around or what????

    still so angry

That's why my car goes to a garage. None of that runaround rubbish you get from a big dealer.

Mind you they were probably 100% flat out, and the receptionist screwing up your booking probably didn't help.

Don't be unhappy with the car because of bad service - there are always good options available for decent service on your VW.

You cannot tar all dealers with the same brush. Mine gets picked up, loaner dropped off and returned at end of the day
I even get to talk to the service techs if required.

Unfortunately that sounds about right for Sydney after I was screwed around with my gti I had to take my fiancée polo in for warranty repair(noisy power windows) I was told the same thing any problems they would call if not ready by 3pm. I called at 2pm and they said yep all done so I pick it up drive outopen my window and guess what still noisy!!!!!!!!! So I go back in and the lady behind the counter says" oh yeah I forgot we had to order parts from Germany so yeah oh well" I went crazy and the service manager says bad luck now they keep ringing me and wonder why all my servicing gets done by seb I will never take my car to vw again
Good bye GTI Hello Golf R

OK name and shame people, i have a choice of Five Dock, Mascot & Sutherland (i think). After the first service it wil be going to VW Villge as they rock and fixed my wifes Passat when nobody else could.

Mascot is not really an option as they are pathetic.

Suck it up and move on. There was a mistake with the booking which then would have had a flow on affect. They obviously couldn't fit in the replacement of the brakes and rotors and I can't recall when I've been called to say the rotors or brakes need replacing (any car maker) except when it's urgent.

The fact that it's a European car has nothing to do with anything. They only took an extra hour and didn't wash it, it's not like they damaged the car or killed your dog

mate, i understand where your coming from i don't want to crucify them or something, it's just they could have been a little more nicer in the way not only they presented themselves but at least say sorry for the inconvenience. i've had mercs services where i get sat down and asked if i'd like a coffee and paid less for. the service industry isn't pretty but if your in it, at least do your job properly.

thanks for the replies by the way; appreciated

anyways, on too the next question, where's the best place in western sydney for me to take my car to next time??? suggestions anyone?

Not sure if this is turning into a 'which dealer is OK' session, and neither are western Sydney, but VW Chatswood and VW Hornsby have both been fine for me so far (nothing too challenging, mind - only 7500k and 15000k services, nothing to be fixed other than the usual oil change/tyre balance etc).

Nepean Motor Group have been perfect for me. As I have said elsewhere in the forum, they picked up a problem I was having, said they would fix it and they were true to their word. Compared to the Parramatta dealer who couldn't fix it and eventually ran away from me...

As for the regular servicing; Nepean Motor Group have done all of them and some warranty work and all was good - very good.

Expectations and delivery of an experience can be simply resolved by heading in and asking to speak with the Service Manager before you book your car in.

When we bought our MKV the sales person introduced us to the Service Manager, where he did not actually remember my name, he remembered my face when I went in to discuss the first service.

Once you meet, you can ask what to expect, and what you are looking for and then if they do not deliver the responsibility lies with him.

Premium car or Hyundai, there should be a level that is met, based on expectations that are set and know by both parties.

                          Supamario I feel for you,

During a service at VW Liverpool I asked about the distortion from the front speakers, vibration on the doors even through low bass and very low volume. The guy there says it's just the way it's built, crap, not with a $50,000 car mate. They didn't even bother to check it. Not happy I took it to Denlo Parra and they gave excellent service and it was all covered by warranty. For some reason the plastic securing the bass speakers were not bolted on properly so it kept vibrating. They fixed it up and gave me a full report on what was wrong and what they did to fix it.

Better still I went to Seb for my services now and would suggest you do the same.
