  • Launch mode for 6 speed manual Golf GT?

Ever notice when you rev the car at a light the rev limiter cuts in at ~3800 RPM? Anyone try flooring the car (holds at 3800 RPM) and then dumping the clutch? Is this a so-called launch mode for manual Golfs??

mine (tdi) is limited to 3000rpm. way more than enough to fry the tyres anyway lol.

You must be into FWD tyre hop! Not a good look in my humble opinion... and feels very, very wrong to do.

Only DSG has the Launch Control, because for manual one, the driver can do the same thing manually. However, my TDI DSG does not have this crazy function.

Sounds like a great idea for a manual, if you want to bugger your clutch, your tyres, and generally stuff your car !

Personally I don't treat my car like that and never will, I value my investment and plan on keeping it for a long time.

If you want to treat your car like that it's up to you, but in my view if you do, then you don't deserve to have the car and you have more money than sense

I think it appeared in the later MKV's.

Basically, turn ESP off, put car into sports, one foot on break, while other is on accelerator, rev it up and let go of break

Go to youtube and type in "gti launch control" and you'll find a heap of instructional videos of GTI's launching.

It's available only with DSG on the GTI, GT Sport TSI, R32, R36 and some Jetta (and I think Passat) 2.0TFSI's. It's not available on any Diesel as they rev too slow and have a narrow power band.

Oh ok, yeah it limits at 3000rpm.. Guess I'll have to wait until I get my R20 then!
