I need to pull out EGR motor section just below EGR valve - GOlf 5 TDI 2.0. I have to remove all black sludge as it's blocked. I wonder if I need to get under the car to do this job as from the top it's too difficult to put hands inside. Has anybody done it?

I haven't physically removed it, but did remove the intercooler plumbing leading up to it, and cleaned it out from underneath. It's easy to do, just a clip for the inlet hose. I'd suggest attacking it from the top, and yeah, my car at 30k's was very sludge coated and I've run a Provent oil catch can since next to new, so I'm getting a fraction of the oil ingested as per standard to form the exhaust sludge.
EGR is not a good thing for keeping a clean inlet manifold.2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |
