  • Giac release Dsg Reflash!

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know, GIAC have come up with a DSG reflash now and there are 2 GTIs currently running it here in Melbourne.

One of which is GTILIN's VF car and the other is a GTI with Revo flash only that did a 13.5s 400m run.

    Stock DSG Software

    6500rpm Rev Limiter

    3000rpm Launch Control

    Approximately 350NM Torque Limiter

    GIAC Software

    7200rpm Rev Limiter

    4000rpm Launch Control

    Approximately 450NM Torque Limiter now

Quick review of sitting in these cars:

Before when doing Launch Control in the car, the car will bog down for 2 secs before the DSG engages and lets the car launch, now with the new software the car just launches as soon as you let go of the brake.

Also shifting is smoother as the software seems to make shifter faster and does not cut the engine power like it use to when in the upper rpm range. Best way to put it is, the DSG now adapts to the power produced by the engine, instead of the engine adapting to limits it power for the DSG. DSG is under-rated from factory and can in fact handle a lot more power than what it is programmed to do, and the best way to put it, this program is like what a reflash of the ECU does.

Great news for those with DSG that want to modify the software.

Now please everyone keep to the facts in the thread and no 'tuning wars'.

That was my intention! Much cheaper than getting the HPA upgrade and you don't need to send away our DSG ecu for it either!

this one just flew in under the radar - HPA have been talking about it for a while - had no idea GIAC were getting involved too.

was it a huge process for Lin to have it done? - i.e. box out?
I'd very much like to eliminate that launch lag (for when times count)...

DSG reflash doesnt require the removal of the ecu unit like HPA. Process is just like with normal engine ecu reflash. Plug in unit and flash!

Why is the price so high when I thought that GIAC sold at the same price throughout the world? Can you confirm the price as it might be a mistake?

              USA price USD$450.00 = AUD$685.00

What's the additional $610 for? Marketing?

nah extensive R&D since Australian has different codes etc LOL

As i mentioned on golfmkv, that was a promo price since its still in pre-release stage.

Seb raised the same question about marketing and APR pricing in another thread it was deleted to be kept on topic.

$2500 isn't too bad I guess for a software total especially for a car that RRP'd for close to 40k...

So if I wanted to get his in Australia during the introductory period how would I go about it and do we pay the equivalent of the USA pricing? USD$450 is a lot cheaper then the Australian price and GIAC would sell a lot more at that price then the current price which is almost double.

Mav, go ask your local GIAC dealer if you're interested. I'm not 100% certain on pricing, it was just an approximate figure. All i know is GTILIN and another GTI has this on their cars and it has made quite a significant difference.

this is for the DSG upgrade, not engine!

                              (as posted of golfmkv.com)

                              Guys,

Went for another drive with GTILIN last night, and let me tell you, AND I KNOW THIS MIGHT NOT BE FOR EVERYONE, but this has made his car into a completely new beast!! The GT28XXX turbo that Andy has is able to spin to 8K rpm, but because the DSG will redline and change gears at around the 6.5K mark, the turbo is not able to reach its max potential. Now with this DSG upgrade, the redline increase has allowed the turbo to spoooooool like crazy!! Not only does the car feel even stronger, the gear shifts are also a lot smoother than before eliminating some lag between changes.

I know a lot of people will not see the benefit of this mod, so all the people saying its crap and pointless - fair enough, but this upgrade suits GTILINs car to the T and so far it has felt like a worthwhile excercise.
