that involved a lot of negotiating, i believe the best way to go about it is to go to your dealer tell them exactly what you want and tell the the price you want to pay before you even start talking price1998 N15 Pulsar SSS with GTi-R Conversion 235.4kw at the front wheels
1997 R33 GTR 347.5kw at all wheels
2009 MKV GTI *Candy White *Sunroof *Anthracite Leather *Tint *6 speed manual *5 Door *R32 Tail Lights *O-SIR O-Rest *OEM Sharan Rubber Antenna Replica

Well was looking at the 5 door with DSG/Leather/Roof.
With corporate discount it was retailing at $46.5k.
Offered the salesperson $43k, they wouldn't budge below $45k.
At $44k its a good price, but I wasn't going to spend that much on a new car that has been superseded.
In the meantime, I've put a deposit down an a 07 3dr GTI DSG/Leather/Roof/Sat Nav/Parking sensors 35,000km unfortunately no xenons
Will post pics once the deal is finalised and I have the car in possession.
I might pick up a Mk6 GTI in a couple of years using corp discounts, but for now will start investigating ECU Tuning options.Last edited by Johnbu; 25-03-2009, 01:16 PM.MY07 Red GTI 3 Door

Remember it is reasonably cheap to significantly upgrade the illumination from std headlights with better halogen globes (and don't need the height adjustment and washers that HID globes require) - for H7s look at Osram 65W, Phillips X-treme, IPF 65W, for H1s look at Osram Nightbreaker or IPF 65W).Originally posted by Johnbu View PostIn the meantime, I've put a deposit down an a 07 3dr GTI DSG/Leather/Roof/Sat Nav/Parking sensors 35,000km unfortunately no xenons

Yep driveaway.
Gonna put it under business so I can claim back GST (10% off) and use the stimulus pack to claim another (9%) off as new asset for small business.
They offered me coporate driveaway for $39800 but can't claim GST etc...
So effectively paid $34538.63 - Thanks Rudd!
