Hi All,
Just wondering what sort of a run people are getting from their Goodyear NCT tyres. The fronts seem to wear on the insides well before the outsides are worn - could be an alignment problem ?
All 4 are pretty knackered at 50k. Am considering trying the Michelin XM1+
What are your experiences ? Did you replace with more NCT's ?
Cheers

How many k's are you expecting to get mate. Driving style, tyre pressures, regular rotation, correct alignment and balancing, and the type of terrain your driving on, will all have an effect on how well they will wear. All I can say is that I've had front wheel and rear wheel drive cars and have followed the recommended procedures to get the maximum life from the tyres but I have never managed much more than around 40K from any of them, most of which have been top brands and recommended for the vehicles. If you can get 50k out of a set of tyres like the standard Goodyears' fitted to the Golf Comfortline you're doing very well and it also shows that the car itself must be pretty good mechanically as well. If you want to improve the handling you could go to a 17" with a lower profile which I can tell you makes a huge difference. My son just had a set of 17's fitted to his Comfortline with a set of 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta 'Sevens' tyres, the ride is still very good, handling has improved heaps and these tyres are whisper quiet compared to the Goodyears. The original Goodyears had only done 20K and still looked like new, the question is how many k's will the new tyres last for ?
