    colour coding looks great.

It is a bloody disgrace that VW sell us cars that are not coded on the bumper. I was trying to spot cars without coding on bumper and couldn't today on way to work.

          Man thats a great price!

I have been getting a few quotes to get my side skirts painted in Perth and they want to charge $700 just to do those let alone the bumpers you had done!

Did they smooth out the textured finish prior to painting?

They sure did. Initially they hi-filled it then once that set, it was sanded back, then primed, and then painted. Nice and smoooooooooth!

I'm in 2 minds. I'll be the first to admit that if the bumpers and skirts were all colour coded i'd have some nasty gouges in the paint.

As it is I have nasty gouges in black plastic which is fine by me.

But it would look SO much better with proper colour coding.

(OK so shoot me it took a while to get used to being so low and having no approach, departure or even any ramp over angle...still catches me off guard when ive been in the patrol for a while)

ps: the qld town of Oakey is NOT GTI friendly. Every gutter wants to remove the front skirt!!! Even in intersections the road has a cunning plan to try and remove your plastic bits.

What happens when they "colour code" exactly? Do they spray/bake the plastic bits or is it something that you can order and have fitted to the car? Totally agree that this should have already come standard! I'm thinking about getting it done but don't want it to look dodgy or out of place.

I'm not exactly sure how they did this to make it look standard, but they did a mighty fine job!

it would be a spray booth type thing, just this panel shop has matched the paint extremily well.

i wish all panel beaters could do the same.

I was quoted $450 for colour coding my Candy White GT Sport when I was looking to buy it. Then when the car arrived at the dealership they noticed the TSI has a different bumper from the GTI (it does not have the delineation around the exhaust section), so the coding would have been the entire bumper (which I thought was a little overbearing and might be affected by the heat from the exhaust).

I took it as fate - a Ford Mustang run into the back of the car under brakes two weeks later (luckily ended up being only a touch, with no damage at all, as his black bumber hit the uncoded section of the bumper).

The MK6 is coded, so VW must have got the message...
