  • About Golf 1.9 TDI Editon.....and first service

    Hi there,

I just bought in a MY09 (2008 Model) Golf 1.9 TDI Edition DSG
    in Barloworld VW 2wks ago

    + Carpet mats (VW)
    iPod adapter (VW)
    Cruise control (VW)
    Metallic paint
    Window tint
    Reverse parking sensor (with screen)
    full tank of diesel

    Drive away for 32,270........

does anyone think I got the good price......?

and just wondering do I need to go for 1500km service....they just told me the first service is around 15,000km..... I drive for 1800km for these 2wks!!

It's really proud to be a member of VW....and it's my first car

Many people recommend doing an early first service (at 1500,5000 or 7500) as a safety measure, especially if you will be keeping it for a while and/or driving hard. (And lol you will have to be to keep up with traffic in the 1.9 :p )

    It's cheap insurance.

I was told the first service is 15K or 12 months.

I think you got a good deal!

Price sounds good, if you do go through to 15K for your first service keep an eye on your oil level. They do consume a fair bit of oil while they are settling down. my 2.0 didn't settle down until about 17k & my dad's 1.9 is at 8k & starting to drink a bit at the moment.

When we purchased our TDI Pacific we was told by the dealer that the 1000km service is completely unnecessary, just too keep an eye oil. Having said that, if the dealer is offering a complementary service at 1000km, it would probably be best to take them up on it. If I could turn back the clock, I certainly would have - the car is not presenting any problems but peace of mind is a nice thing.

We have clocked up 5000km and it has not used any oil at all. Odd?

When i got mine from Nepean they offered a free 1500k check/service which I had done, as you said, peace of mind.

I think thats a pretty good deal.

i just got a pacific 2.0L tdi dsg with the leather upgrade for 37k drive away.

looking at your prices, maybe i overpayed a little for mine?

The complimentary first service presents a great opportunity to query any possible issues that you're having with the car. Also, some dealerships are now not covering things like trim rattles/virbrations beyond this service under warranty, so take note!

                    Thanks a lot !!!!!

I will check up with my dealer tomorrow, if they could provide the 1500 km service with a little cost...... just like what you guys said take a "peace of mind"~

I bought it in Barloworld VW in Glen Waverly, Melbourne.... they're quite nice and highly recommended if you are consider to buy a golf in MEL.

It looks so nice~ Unfortunately there is no upgrade option for the golf edition

After watching these forums for quite some time (and watching the sort of prices others were getting), then thinking about the sort of price I was willing to pay - talking to some dealers - it took a lot of the fun out of buying a new car - I was never sure if I was getting a good deal (it had been 12 years between new car purchases for me!)

But then when the Golf went on drive away deals (run out) in January, things became much easier - did the deal on mine over the phone in 20 minutes flat (as by this stage I knew exactly what I wanted) - paid $36k drive away with sunroof, mats and spats (and got the 3 year VW extended waranty at cost for an extra $1500).

There will always be people who get better deals - and that is life

But at the end of the day I got a great car at a price that I was happy with and I decided that it is better to enjoy the car than have a feeling that perhaps "I could have got a better price".

haha yeah, i did some more searching on the forums and i think the price is ok.
i just thought that with the economic downturn and all (and the new golf out) that they would be practically giving one away to me

Excellent thinking and well done. I was happy with the price I paid for ours then second guessed myself after reading what others had paid. I had a think about it and realised that I was still happy with it. It's also difficult to compare drive away prices because of the differing stamp duties (5% in WA).
