The place I bought the Prorack had Thule, Rola, and Rhino and recommended the Prorack as being the best - even though the price difference was not large.

I had Rola's on my Subaru and used them *a lot* for kayaks and bikes with no problems. I guess that's different to ladders, but I had more than 40kg on them with no issues.
Hey mate, do Thule accessories fit on Prorack bars then? I just picked up a set of Prorack bars with a kayak holder, and need something to carry my bikes as well. I think the Thule Sidearm is the only one on the market that will work.

Yep - they sure do. I have a Thule 561 Outrider on my Prorack bars.

          Roof racks

Go for Prorack S-wing flushbar www.roofcarriersystems.com.au in Melb they look as good as you can get, then add anything from another supplier like Thule for bike carrying etc

Close up of the VW bar. I will get a price on them tomorrow. The "strap" is much wider than the Rola.
