    This is not about your observation in particular, but everyone bangs on about heat shields around the pod filters, but if this is such a factor, shouldn't the ENTIRE intake tract be insulated as well? This heat may not affect the OE intake pipe as much as the after market intakes - less heat soak with plastic versus steel tube.

    But if the Modshack's intake is in a cold air place (wheel arch or similar), wouldn't its air temp characteristics be at least the same as the OE filter? In fact, probably better, as the OE air box sucks hot air in from the engine bay as well as from the grille. Dunno. Just random thoughts, really.

        I couldnt find anything on ebay....will shop around for an intake (Y) apparently the modshack intake gives a better 'blow-off' sound....which is appealing haha

              That's a great find Mik, it has a K&N oiled pod in it, and they are towards $300 Au shipped here, probably more now with the dollar how it is. Amazing insulation, very well made unit.
