Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Air con now working

    Just got my golf back from VW Highway in Brisbane after having the aircon compressor, condenser, seals and hoses replaced. All done under warrenty.

    What a difference. Instant chill. I didn't realise how faulty my existing air con unit was.

    Also service and quality of workmanship was excellent.

    Big thumbs up to Highway

    Wow that's a lot of fixes.

    It sounds like the air con was working, but just not well enough.

    I'm curious, did you have to convince them to do all that change or they just did it themselves ?

      Didn't need any convincing whatsoever.

      When it went for it's 45,000km service, I mentioned that the aircon was taking 10 minutes to kick-in and even then it was only cool rather than cold.

      They regassed during the service, but when I picked it up they said that it still wasn't performing as it should and that they had already ordered the parts and it would be done under warrenty.

      No quibbling, which was nice for a change.

      I guess it's a good opportunity for them the steal some $$$$$ from VW corperate rather than the VW public.

      Nether-the-less, I'm really pleased with Highway and will be returning for the 60,000km service in four months time.

        There have been many threads on MKV air-con failures... maybe time to consider a sticky thread on this issue?

          some AC Condenser Fan aren't really working well for VW, I guess it's time to fit in some new one should have more life - poor a/c reliability
