Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hajb, I have the same problem. Just noticed it the other day. It appears that the auto dimming feature is Kaputt! Green led on but doesn't appear to dim.
Do you know how the dealer testred it? Did they just hook it up and test for fault codes or did they actually see if the mirror dimmed? I'm thinking of taking it in for them to look at it, don't want to be fobbed off.

My Vrs auto mirror seems to take a few seconds to properly dim if the following car is a bit glarey, and it isn't as subdued as the manual dipping mirror on the Transporter.2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Mine has never worked satisfactorily from day 1. It initially took ~20 seconds to dim at all in response to following bright lights.
I covered the sensor (on the front of the mirror) with 2 layers of window-tint film to trick the sensors into thinking the lights following were brighter than the light level in front of the car. This made the internal mirror tint more quickly, but still not to the level comfortable for me.
I'd really just rather a simple day/night mirror. I've never had a problem with those.2018 Golf GTI, Manual - gone.

its easy to test the mirror!! all you have to do is to park the car outside in the direct sunlight then cover the light sensor at the front of the mirror with your finger. this tricks the mirror to think its dark and then dims it because there is still lots of light hitting the face of it

I don't use it either...the green tint is just too weird for me so I just angle it in a way that light reflection doesn't come directly into my eyes (lift up my head if I need to see behind)2006 MY07 Jetta 2.0 TFSI Reflex Silver, DSG, Sunroof, Bi-Xenon, Leather
