Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

To move from D to S you need to press the button on the side of the gear lever in as it a restricted movement. All you will most probably notice is that it drops down a gear, (until you hit the accelerator that is)

The next gearchange is somewhere down in the red section of the tacho.
Its just not a suitable mode for driving around town. Anything other than perfectly flat ground makes the ESP light come on pretty much constantly as it attempts to hold back wheelspin at speeds under 80km/hr.
But then again my car has DSG gremlins, so maybe its just mine which has the "silly" mode.

Yes, Mr Officer, I was not hooning, even though I was revving to 5000 in 1st and redlining in second in the school zone.
Changing from D to S while moving is OK, but it will change back to 1st or second at any speed under 80 and give you instant engine braking unless you plant it immediately, which is when you get the wheelspin and TC cutting in ....
I'd actually like a 1/2 sport mode setting - the D mode changes up just under the torque band and you can "fall in a hole" if you need some grunt, especially after a trailing throttle.sigpic

Its funny because I have found the driver really does not have any control on the revs. The computer just assumes you want to get to top speed as fast as is possible.
