Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just to give you an idea, I've had it for 3 days now, done 200ks, the fuel gauge is a touch under 3/4 of a tank......and that's having some fun in it too!! the trip computer is showing 520km remaining so it's looking good so far.

Also the economy will get better as the car beds in and loosens up. Allow a few thousand, but don't baby it for the first few hundred, run it in pretty hard, seal those tiny rings!

That sounds pretty spot on especially for a new car.

I bet your fuel economy will get better by 50k's over what your getting now.

I certainly can stretch mine past 600 if I want too every single tank no matter how much I thrash it.

Just depends if I want to have to stop mid trip to fill up when im approaching 600 versus filling up before I hit 600 but only putting 49L in with 6L spare.

Yeah the harder you drive it the better the rings will seal with any crosshatching thats left on the cylinder bores.

If you miss bedding the rings in through thrashing the cross hatching will wear off and you will have piston rings that are looser. Less power, more fuel consumption.

Drive it as if its cogdoc's diesel and not you car eg = thrash it .

            Fresh after a wash!!
First fill up this morning, 580km on 45 litres = 30 mpg...... and that's playing with the right foot a fair bit too!!

Bet ya my TSI makes more noise than your car! no hoodlining, no airbox, custom exhaust.

I have more air intake noises, blow off valve sounds and DSG pops than you can poke a stick at and thats before the turbo/supercharger changeover point!

i have modshack on mine, and the induction noise is incredible.

really want an exhaust too! but don't really want to spend so much since we are now officially in recession lol!

Hey Polar bear, gotta love that induction noise aye!!! I had a GTI-R Nissan Pulsar back in NZ with a K&N filter on it and when that Garrett turbo wound up it sounded hornier than a blind man at a peep show!! aaaarrgh!!

Just make a run to WA. with the TSI 1.4 fuel economy you should make almost 800k's from a tank on the nullabor.
