2008 plated GTi driveaway deals

I'm currently in the market for a new GTi and I've noticed that VW currently have the no on road costs promotion for 2008 plated GTis. ie. $42,990 driveaway

Just wanted to know if anyone has purchased a GTi from this promotion and if they were able to get any further discounts on top of the promotional price.

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

i have heard of a couple of members lately being able to drive away with a newbie for pretty much the $40K mark, or even slightly less if my memory serves me right. also, i have a feeling these were slightly optioned as well.

I bought a 2008 GTI, in July '08, for only 41,250 including tint
The trick is fleet discuount, but in the current conditions, you should get this sort of discount for an '09 make

I was offered a red 3 door dsg for under 41K last Sunday.

A dealer in Melb said they would do it for 43,500 and throw in some extras

Just came back from a dealer after signing up for a new 2008 GTi 5 door DSG for 41.5K including tint =)
