  • RNS510 startup screen

    Hi Guys -

Trying to solve a bit of a mystery here. Sometimes when I start up the car I see the "welcome to volkswagen" logo splash up on the RNS510, and othertimes I don't.

What makes the logo show? Is there a particular sequence or turn-off condition that needs to be met before the screen is shown? There doesn't seem to be any consistency (that I can determine).

    Thanks.

Depends on how long it has been turned off for - it's called the "boot screen" - There is a timer that holds everything on for (I think) 40 minutes after the key has been switched off - allows for super quick start up - otherwise it shuts down & you see that screen on a full start up!

As guy said it stays on for 20 minutes after you close the car so if you come back it's ready to go.

Also when you open the door it starts up so if you take longer to get in then usual then it will be almost instant to start up. If you listen before you turn the car on you will hear the fan on the unit running.
