  • Top 3 musts after buying a VW...

So... I've had my Jetta for over 2 weeks. After looking through the forum, there are so many things to do/add/mod/upgrade/etc. So here lies the question... What are the top 3 things that are a must after buying a VW (both appearance and perfomance wise).

    Originally my plans were:
    1. Re-Paint stock TFSI rims black
    2. Chip
    3. Possibly invisible bra or exhaust...

    Thoughts?

Hey Dragonzdk, how much did you pay for your chip? Whats your fuel consumption like with it?

Whatever you do,do NOT paint the alloys Black.
It will look like a base model Jetta offered in some overseas markets, which came with plastic hubcaps, and they have been stolen off ...
The factory alloys are a classic, just keep them looking as clean as possable at all times.

I'd almost certainly be getting the invisible car-bra if I were buying new. Hating the stone-chips on my Bora
              Nothing to see here...

I reckon if you chip it you should do the brakes at the same time so you can stop.

Suspension? Really? The TFSI has sport suspension.. I wouldve thought that would be one of the things i wouldnt have to think about changing.

I wouldnt mind getting the invisible car-bra, though its a bit dear, anyone know where it can be done around Sydney?

I love the stock rims on the Jetta, but i wish they were black...

Just don't wash the wheels, you'll have the desired effect in less than a fortnight.

its not tooooo bad. but it depends what you want and what you're expecting. it will probably be adequate for a while but after a year or so you may find yourself wanting it a bit stiffer and flatter through corners. unfortunately its not a cheap upgrade, you're looking at 2k+ if you want a quality set of coilover suspension. you can also do it the cheap way and just buy springs but that isnt really my style, i like to have the best gear in such a nice car.

i'm with you, paint the wheels. not 100% black though. throw in a bit of silver chrome so it catches some light. almost gun metal grey but darker. see below.
