Leather. What is your budget, you mentioned limited funds? As all Golf's are driveaway now (except Pirelli) you won't have to haggle on dealer delivery and the like, so maybe that lets you have your cake (leather) and eat it too (sunroof)?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

GTI - leather or sunroof?

Leather all the way. Tartan seats in the GTI are blerg and I don't think after having leather in the R I could ever have a car without it again. Sunroof is more of a novelty thing I reckon it gets old pretty quick.

Leather! I have a sunroof and leather and must say that I don't really use the roof that much. It does make the cabin feel like you have room to breath. I usually use the roof when I don't want the windows down and still want a bit of air coming into the car. Choose what you think you will be most happy with not what others went for. I had the trouble deciding latter or anthracite and kept going back to the latte.....of course got the latte and love it.....as for the roof it was an extra novelty really.

SUNROOF! The leather just doesn't seem too inviting I must say (personally I couldn't justify 3k for leather seats)..... And whoever said that having sun roof lowers the head room
... I'm 6'3" and have Plenty of room until my head gets close to hitting the roof!
Nothing better on a nice sunny morning then to open up the sunroof and have that extra bit of light into the cabin....sigpic

Had to work out the same thing myself and ultimately went with the sunroof.
Leather seemed like a good idea and heated seats in Canberra's cold winters was certainly attractive.
However, just took delivery of my new TDI Pacific during over 40 degree heat and decided that I had made the right choice. Also read the mixed views on leather on this and other forums.
At the end of the day what ever you choose I feel confident that you will be happy with a Golf.Brew

At the end of the day it might just come down to what is available. I sat in a GTI today that had leather (with sheep skin covers on it?) and sunroof. When looking up i noticed the roof lining is a dark colour rather than the usual beige. Do non-sunroof owners ever feel a bit claustraphobic?Last edited by MrGadget; 12-02-2009, 07:53 PM.-----------------------------------------

Sunroof if you like fresh air rather than aircon, unless you get the latte leather. The grey leather just doesn't do it for me - I don't reckon it matches the other greys in the car closely enough, so if you're not going to get it right you might as well go the whole hog and have a total contrast (ie. latte).
