  • 06 Jetta Log Book service

    Hi!

Sorry, not sure if this is the right place to post this...

My car is due for its regular service, the local VW servicing has quoted me $580 for a 30000km log book service which is still under warrentee. Apparently its a big service.... is that reasonable or would anyone know of a cheaper place around Sydney?

    Thanks!

I was quoted that price from Five Dock Barloworld for the 30K service on TDI MKV.

I am still exploring alternatives, not to save money but so I have a chance to speak with the mechanic.

Try VW's McGrath Sutherland, 499 - 505 Princes Highway, Sutherland, Phone (02) 9545 7165, they might be slightly cheaper and also open on Sat: 8:00am - 12:00pm.

Not sure the quality of service though. 30k km isn't a big service anyway.

The quote was from VW's McGrath Liverpool, i was hinking its close and convienent but now im worried about the quality, I was told it was a big service, would anyone have an idea of what the service covers?

I was told Chatswood Classic Cars was good, which is where the car was originally serviced, but still waiting for them to get back to me....

It covers all filters but the extra price is that they are changing the brake fluid which they charge a fair whack for...

I had mine done for 30k service at Chatswood CC last month and I think I was quoted $580 as well, though I ended up paying more 'coz I asked for a few more things done .

The Waitara VW (Hornsby) is a bit cheaper than CCC (I think under $500) but last time I wasn't happy with the engine oil that they used.

What other things did you get done?

Less then $500? What oil did they use?

I asked for wheel rotation and steering/wheel alignment (costs $85 from memory).

I'm not sure what oil was used but supposedly all complies with the VW501 (or whatever the code is). However in 2-3mths after the service at VW Waitara last year my car's oil was already very dark & looked dirty so I had to change it myself mid-year... couldn't bear to leave it for the rest of the yr (maybe they didn't flush properly before putting in new oil??). Hopefully it'll be better this year.

Fair enough then, what do you reckon...

Im off to Jarvis bay this weekend, Sydney to Jarvis Bay drive, should I service my car tomorrow and pay the 580, or wait 2-3weeks for a cousins friend to service it for 200 at VW Five Dock?

I have no idea on this... you better check on the oil dispstick how it is now, when was the last service, kms, etc.

Mind you the 30k service for $580 is for a complete car check, oil/pollen filter change, etc. including greasing door hinges & locks... so if you only want the basic service + oil change then it might be worth going somewhere cheaper, but don't leave it for too long if it is due

I recently had my 30000 kilometer service done in Melbourne, and paid 525 dollars including a tyre rotation in my MY 07 Jetta 2.o FSI auto.
Was quoted up to 700,but had it done at a main dealership, and was happy with the service.

Only cost me $340 Melbourne for the 30k service but that was in Dec 2007 and mine is a TDI!

I paid $580 at Chatswood CC for a 15K service. They recommended rotating and balancing the wheels becasue I did my 15000km in 7 months plus I let them clean the injectors. They said it stops it blowing too much soot.

Maybe I should have declined the extras.

                              What do you think?
