  • How is your TSI going in the heat?

I've noticed my GT has been running fairly rough also with few surges/hesitations over the last couple of weeks and find that the S/C boost builds quite slowly during the heat of the day, how are others finding it?
If it's just me maybe it's worth getting it checked out.

I found removing the Forge CAI improved things somewhat, possibly by smoothing out the airflow??

One of the few times I'll say I'm looking forward to Winter

Mines got the S/C problem in 1st (sometimes not even coming on like it normally does), (and for a couple of days 2nd), It's booked in to the dealer 2moz to get it looked at.. Apart from that it's going well

Mine's been quite OK in the heat here in Adelaide.
No stuttering or sluggishness at all.
It would have been nice to be able to justify a Forge intercooler but...

Thanks for the replies, hmmmm may have to get it checked out. And yes, a twintercooler would be great, pity about the cost!

        cheers,

All good here but I can't say i've been driving around in the heat of the day... Hopefully it's no major issue PaulOH...

Mine has also been OK, and it has been recently driven enthusiastically in the heat.
But I'll pay more attention around town and see if it is laggy.
Interesting about the CAI - I guess it draws air up from closer to the hot road, rather than the 'ram' effect of the stock box.

Thanks again for the replies, I also noticed that the boost gauge goes up at about the same speed as as the speedo when accelerating in 3rd gear (if you know what I mean), it's normally very sensitive and shoots up effortlessly, maybe at lower revs the S/C isn't kicking in properly/or at all and it's relying on turbo boost alone?
Hmmm, sounds like more analysis is needed and will plan to get it checked out by VW very soon (and on a hot day).

This all sounds similar to the symptons shown by cars that had not had the 24M3update carried out. Has yours been updated?

                  Cheers

I had a service in Dec and enquired about the update and was advised that this did not apply to my vehicle. I asked again (somebody else) to double check and they confirmed that it didn't apply. My car was manufactured in Jan 08 (delivered June) so would be interested to hear if owners on or after this build date required the update? If so, I'll check again but was of the understanding that the 24M3 was a cold weather fix? Hmmmmm.....

Paul, my car was built Sep08 and delivered Nov08 and was also told that my car didn't require the update. but i persisted, took it to another stealer and they actually hooked up the car and did some diagnostics and low and behold the update WAS required. haven't had a problem since

Mine has a sticker in the door frame saying they've applied 24M3.
                          Do you guys have that?
