As far as I knew, Pacific brakes can't be the same as GTI brakes because GT Sport brakes aren't the same as Pacific, and GT Sport are just a different colour to GTI.

As bugayev pointed out the GT Sport has the GTI brakes but not powder coated red. The Pacific and so on all have the same size I believe and all get the same size as the 1.6l edition.

Just had my 45k service done, and upon service dealer has advised me that my front brakes have 80% left and rear 70%?
Can someone with a little bit more insight explain how is this possible?

I always thought that front brakes brake twice as hard as rear but we new technology that can be the thing of the past......

Perhaps the rear pad material is softer than the front ??

I heard only the front brakes on the GT are the same as the GTI and the rears are just standard ones e.g. Pacific?

The VW website doesn't have brake sizes in mm and cbf trawling Elsawin

on light braking only the rear brake is engaged but yes when you start to step on it, the front does most of the braking.

The golf applies the rear brakes first to minimise the nose diving under hard braking, the materials on the bad are also slightly different.

312 mm ventilated front discs
286 mm solid rear discs

R32 Brakes
345 mm ventilated front discs
310 mm solid rear discs

Golf all other standard petrol and diesel not listed above.
280 mm ventilated front discs
255 mm solid rear discs
