Green Brake Warning Light in Dashboard

I've my Golf TDI Pacific DSG for a month now and just the last few days after starting the car a green warning light stays on which according to the manual says to place your foot on the brake pedal. I do that and it goes away.

I'm just not sure why it has started to come on. Everything else seems fine.

Does anyone more familiar with the Gold know why it would be happening.

That comes on to tell you that to move the selection lever that you have to put your foot on the brake before you can change the selection. Only operates in positions like Park.

In the glove box there is a black binder which contains the manual, it's a source of all sorts of information like this. I suggest you RTFM as there are a lot of other features that you may not be aware of.

Great thanks for that. Still dont know why its only started to come on. Maybe I've always had my foot on the brake all the time in the past before as I start the car.

We hired a Prius last holidays. Sometimes it started first time and other times it took about 30 seconds. By the end of the trip I decided to read the manual, where it stated you must have your foot on the brake in order to start the car. Obviously, sometimes I did and other times I didn't...

I had a VW Touareg loan car last month while my car was serviced and likewise I had to step on the brake pedal while starting the engine, whereas in Jetta/Golf/Polo it is not necessary.

But yeh I think the green brake pedal light in the dash also indicates the gearshift lock is active to avoid shifting to D or R unintentionally.
