Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Is it safe to drive wihtout one ?

I've only just realised that the used R32 I bought doesn't have the VW Bottle Opener.

I'm concerned driving wihtout one may affect the performance or safety of the car.
    1. How much do they cost, where can I source one ?

Hopefully you can put a concerned drivers mind to rest.

Mine was missing so the dealer got me one later. Cost is about $35 if you have to pay.

                    hide and seek

I've read about the opener, and could not find it in my TSI (assumed it was a GTI only thing...).

But today I found it, inside the user guide ring binder (there is a pouch under the left hand side cover).

                    Might be worth a look...

The demos I sat in didnt have the bottle opener either. They probably know they go missing

I had to get mine from the dealer after delivery as it wasnt fitted to my car when I picked it up.

The full metal ones go missing very easily. Its obvious why.

I think the best plan as you are in Adelaide, is to go to the Coopers shop in the Airport and buy one that fits in your wallet like a credit card.
