how many times have you used your DSG's launch control?
How are you guys generating/capturing those "run" results? Looks like some Apple/iPod app, but I'm not familiar with it.
How does it work? ie, how does it interface with the car to gather the info?
Cheers,
Not a dumb question at all mate, check out this thread for info
Ive got 6.89 on dynolicious in my 1.4 TSI.
Launch control, Full on, THongs off racing!
Smoked the wheels but the tyres gripped and the car just flew!
I used launch control coming back from picking up the car from the dealer. Laid about 25m of rubber. It is the correct way to bed a cars engine in. Drive it like you stole it from the guy who stole it.

Each to their own but that idea is BS in my opinion
I followed Volkswagens recommendations which are the same as all other car manufacturers. I figure that if the Volkswagen engineers felt the car needed to be run in a different way they would let us know.
Also take into account that new tyres often have poor grip for the first few hundred kilometres (unless you use launch control of course )
New Engine Break In Procedure For Cars, Motorcycles, Motocross, Snowmobiles and Boats
It has been long proven in Subaru circles that if you baby a motor after the first 500-800km then it will just never bed the rings in properly because by then all the cross hatching in the bores has worn away.
You need to do full power runs after 500-800.
Most race engines are built....do 500-800km then get a FUll power tune done and then get thrashed.
People who baby the car just get higher oil usage and less power because the piston rings never bed into the bores.

The Volkswagen Engineers who live and breath their engines and follow their run in procedures which are printed in the owners manual of my $50K+ car.
or
A redneck calling himself MotoMan who rebuilds snowmobile engines and advertises his gospel on a $5 budget website with links to sites of women in bikinis.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

I never had a problem running that in the same way as I ran this car in. Maybe Subaru should talk to VW about making more reliable engines.

Nobody says to baby it! I agree that's the worst thing to do (after thrashing it that is) to break a car in and the manual tells you what you should do in detail.
I have used the Motoman method on a Buell XB12S, a 150cc scooter, and a MY04 WRX with no issues. Regarding the scooter I took it into the shop it was purchased from for a service and they could not believe how much quicker it was than the identical model they use as a shop hack.
Well it's never gonna be stronger than when it's new, ey.
I'm more worried about hurting the engine than the drive train. I'll have to take it a bit easier until I clock up some more ks.
Yeah, I'd read the book about running the engine in. It may frighten you. Aren't you alarmed by the smell of burning from your engine after driving it hard? Each to their own I guess. I waited until at least 2000km were up before using the LC.

You still get that smell in year old engines when you take them to RPM's they've never been to before......
