  • things that i love in my mk5

a twist from the other thread ive started.

apart from the usual, wheels, engine, noise, etc answers lets try and make it something different.

for me (apart from the obvious stuff).

    * the little red lights over the console that help you see what youre pushing in the night.

    * the way i can push the indicators either way and them flash 3 times without actually pushing them in to lock

    * the netting under the hatch shelf to store stuff

    * the glovebox!!! (small as it is. i didnt have in my VR6)

    * the way it auto locks the doors at 15km/h

    * the way it unlocks the doors when i remove the key.

    thats it so far.

What about the way it still gets from point A to point B and saves you walking ??

By the way I'm sure this will make for an interesting thread

That's only an option with the NZ models though isn't it?

I think so, but in these tough times the dealers are not as sheepish when it comes to giving away a few extras to get a sale !! baa baa baa

                    1. Holding the key open unlocks the car and then the windows ..leeting some of the hot air out BEFORE you get in.
                    2. The way the GTI manual fits into the top of the glovebox allowing more room in the glovebox.
                    3. The confortable ride and handling in the twisty bits.
                    4. Pulling away at lights

                      So far I love everything.

Haven't driven it enough yet to find anything wrong. I'm sure anything that does come up though is only going to be petty.

These are the features that stick out in my mind so far.

                          - When I open the boot using the key fob, it opens all the way up by itself due to the struts. Very handy

                          - Auto up/down switches for all the windows

                          - self canceling indicator stalk

                          - Flip key

                          - Under seat storage drawers

                          - dipping mirror on reverse that can be canceled.

the pop noise between gear shifts in the DSGs!

also the fact the steering column has angle and telescopic adjustments

oh and the design of the steering wheel is perfect. thin there its meant to be thin, fat where its meant to be fat

I particularly like the strut that holds up the bonnet/hood. Today, I checked the oil and sub-conciously tried to unhook the strut from the bonnet!

First car I ever owned with a strut. Makes me realise how potentially dangerous cars without them can be.
