  • Front Windscreen Shade ?

With it being 41 here for the next 3 days and the Golf parked outside in the sun while I'm at work I need some suggestions. (get another job is not appropriate)
    1. A good shade that is easy to set inside the car's front windscreen.
    2. Has no stick on the window suction cups.
    3. Covers as much glass as possible.

I've got one of those cheapies that folds like a paper fan, in this heat it tends to collapse, plus it's not quite big enough.

I've posted this in here because I after something that people find fits the golf windscreen well.

    Thanks
    Paul

I'm looking for the same...but in the short term...grab an o'size beach towel and jam it in the passenger and drivers door, draping it across your windscreen (from the outside).

Oh....and having a sunroof opened is a blessing (+ an obscene tint %...but I never told you about the tint).

I usually fold the sunvisors down to hold the fan type sunshade in place it works pretty well. Leaving a window down a fraction or the sunroof slightly ajar (if you have one) will help to keep the heat inside down a bit as well and then maybe the poor old sunshade will hold out better

Put the fan one on the outside under wipers, works better outside.

Careful about leaving windows open when its windy (if you have an alarm)
Mine has been set off several times from just the wind blowing through the car (no loose objects inside)

                Park under a tree.

I have nothing, but usually as im walking towards the car i use the remote to open all the windows hide in the shade to let it blow out some of the stale hot air.

What i like about the golf is that it only takes about 90 seconds of air con going full bore on the hottest of dadys to get it down to reasonable temp. with the sunroof tilted and the cold air directed to the ground, using the heat rises throry, it works a treat.

Every time I park under a tree it's always full of birds, who then decide to empty their bowels all over my paintwork

                    That is a major downside

putting a beach towel is the best way,as the heat is stopped outside the window and stops the heat travelling inwards, instead of having a heat shield/reflector on the inside which allows the air to heat up between the window and reflector, hense heating the whole car up much more.

try a sheet over the whole car for that ultimate sun protection... looks ****y tho.,

It is, especially if you've just finished washing it

Go to Kmart, Autobahn or similar and for about $10-$15 you can buy a shade that folds up into a circle about 20cm across, it has two lots foldable metal strips around the outside and forms two circular shades that are joined in the middle that will overlap and cover the entire windscreen. The metal stops it from sagging and it works perfectly as well as being compact. Folding it takes a bit of getting used to but it's perfect for what you're after.
The only sunshade worth buying in my opinion.
                          Cheers,
                          Trent

                          Completely Folded shade.

                          Fully Unfolded.

Also beware of tree sap when parking under a tree... mine had clear/transparent dots of tree sap (from a gum tree, I think??) the other day that wasn't easily visible at a glance... and rather a biatch to remove & clean!!

Some of that stuff is like acid and if left on the surface long enough, like bird crap, it will eat straight through the clear coat.
