  • who is trading in for the new Golf 6?

The new golf should be in Aus in the next month or so , just wondering who is interested in a trade in with their MkV's ?

I thought Ive seen one around already. Thought it was an older golf untill I looked at rear taillights
I was near the house of a service manager for a large dealer. Maybe they have some in for a trial already?

      Happy with MKV

The interior on the MKVI looks more up-market, and I expect the build quality should be improved (5 door models made in Germany, and a simpler design that takes about 1/3 less time to assemble). However I prefer the more sophisticated styling of the MKV. IMO and on the basis of photos only, the MKVI front looks more bland, the new GTI front looks too 'busy', and the profile looks more upright at the back (like the BMW 120, which I don't like very much). In the flesh of course it might be a different story.

I'll be keeping my MKV TSI for the foreseeable future (and expect to be very happy as a result...).

I will not be trading in my MKV GTI, but I am expecting to put a MKVI GTI next to it in the drive in Oct 2009 when they should hopefully be available for delivery. Awaiting details on cost so I can lay a deposit down as soon as details released - I believe in or by March 2009. Only thing that would stop me is if they finally release details on the GTI-R and when it will be released.

I am willing to listen to what they have to say & offer, but I did buy the Golf V with the view of very long ownership.

I'm with Maris on this one, but I don't even think I'd be interested in hearing what they have to say or offer, I love my GT TDI and have no plans of trading it any time soon

Only VW I'll be trading my MkV GTI in for would be a Sirocco. Since they are not supposed to be coming out here, it means it will be some other make and model, more than likely...

bit hard to say till i test drive it, but with the Mk5 GTI at 34k at the moment, i'd be due to turn it over i reckon at around 40. so fair chance i'll "upgrade" it... if you could call it that... more like "renew".

Mum's GTI will be three years old and out of warranty in June, so I expect she'll upgrade to a mark VI when they're available.

Put it in perspective, the VI uses simplify V’s under body platform structure, and allows shafting key components i.e. FSI and DSG production line to lower cost countries, carries some existing design, in order to save money in the overall development, Focuses to interior design, insulation and refinement. Adding new level of technology including 7th air bag, provides fancy shape and current trend lines...

What preference is upto you all individuals. One thing for sure is that new car always has newer and fresher paint.

We'll definitely test drive one as soon as they're available, but I think I'm heading down the passat wagon route.

I'll be driving one, but unless there are significant improvements over the V i'll be sticking with the current car. I just have so much fun when I'm behind the wheel.
