Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Jetta Body Kit opinion

    Hi All,

As some of your may already know, I have a 08 Jetta TFSI and it came with US spec GLI side skirts as standard. I am thinking since I have half the kit already why not finish it off

I do like the Votex kit you can get for the Jetta. Do you guys think it would look wierd if I just got the front lip and rear boot spoiler without getting the rear skirt?

Here is a silver Jetta which has done the same thing (pics stolen from carsales)

    Front lip

Rear spoiler with no rear skirt

    Rear spoiler with rear skirt

What do you guys reckon? The TFSI has the rear bumper colour coded so it kinda looks like a body kit anyway.

Do it man. That kit looks great, and relatively understated too.

Oh I want to do it but I wanted to see if you guys think it would like wierd if I didnt get the rear skirt. The difference is very subtle but its there.

I have been throwing up the same thing. I am doing wheels and suspension first but then will probably get the kit.

Its so subtle yet changes the car so much.

Let me know how you get on with supply and cost (incl paint + fit)

            Do It

You won't regret it. I was the first to get it done all the way back in 2006 and I still love it. It really just adds a classy silhouette to the car....I have the tow pack too so the reversing sensors had some additional calibration but otherwise a flawless experience...a few close shaves on the front lip however!

its the only pic I have here

if I remember I'll post a few more.

ps. after seeing mine in the buff a colleague got a platinum MY08 jetta with body kit and charlestons....which looks awesome

            cheers

Would it look strange if I didnt get the rear skirt though?

Anyone care to comment? Not getting the rear skirt will help save quite a few dollars.

it wouldn't look strange but definitely wouldn't look as good. i say spend the extra $$ and get the whole kit, you won't regret it in the long run.

                  So weird...

Been a while since I visited...

I imported those side skirts (couldn't get via VWA) as I thought they matched our standard Jetta which had black underbumpers F & R.

I like this look better as it makes the body look a bit less bulky IMHO.

In your shoes, I would actually paint the bottom of the bumpers black !

Oh well, at least it makes it easier for me to get a new side skirt if something happens to one of ours !
