  • Connects2 wiring adaptor for aftermarket headunit

    Hi,

After a lot of research into installing an aftermarket head unit in Golf GT sport, I finally found a wiring harness that was the shiz - the Connects2 CTSVW002. It gives me all of the steering wheel controls as well as all of the extra connections needed for aftermarket navigation systems.

    Heres a link:

However after ringing around to various authorized dealers for Connects2 gear in Sydney that sell the adaptor, I found that the bulk of them are rip off merchants. I was quoted ~$300 for the CTSVW002 in most places and I even quoted $290 for the antenna adaptor (VW plug to standard Din with signal booster) in another!

Most UK sites sell it for around $110 AUD (~50 pounds) but I haven't found one that ships to Aus. Has anyone else had more success?

    Thanks a million.

I paid over half that for PAC control units just for the steering wheel buttons with Alpine head. You have to allow shipping too remember.

When I found a nice dash part I wanted, I just wrote the UK crew a big e-mail begging them to ship it to me even though they didn't do international...and it was no problem. I'm sure if you e-mail the various UK distributors, you'll get someone willing to ship...especially in the current economic climate!

Yeah I did some research on the PAC parts as well. The CTSVW002 lets you keep the Audio menu on the MFD which I thought was really cool. This gives you the right hand track select buttons without causing the MFD to scroll.

I may have to resort to begging via email...[global recessions rock!]

I emailed them over a year ago about the possibility of getting a Dension ice unit for my MkIV. Whilst they don't advertise that they will ship to Australia, they said that they would. I found that the Australian market for ICE units is quite pathetic. As you said they're ridiculously expensive if they can be bothered to get back to you after you've contacted them.

        Cheers,

Try your local Bursons. very underrated store and always good value for the $$.

I needed to get a wiring harness to go from Eurovox to JVC a couple of years back and they didnt have it in stock (11am) but it was awaiting pickup at 4pm They didn't even ask for me to pre pay for it and i think i paid $45 or something stupid.

            Thanks for your help guys.

I ended buying all of my gear at www.nexxia.co.uk. It shipped about 5 hours after I ordered it via Royal AirMail which I've found to be reliable in the past.

Didn't end up getting a double-din facia because I'm still not sure which one is the best (Metra vs. American International). I think aus-mkv resprayed a AI kit and it matched the dash perfectly.
