Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Jetta arrived (finally)

Just picked up my new Jetta 2.0 TDI DSG. I ordered it back at the start of April so it's been a bit of a wait. It's badged as a MY07 and has a slightly different radio facia. I think that's the only difference.

So far I've driven it all of 10KM from the dealer back to work. I'm looking forward to taking it for a good run this week end.

I'll have to post some pics too.

A question for you Jetta drivers
    Cheers

Thanks, I just got home from work and had an enjoyable drive despite the traffic.

Quite a deceptively quick car. It'll be interesting to see how it goes after it's bedded in.

        Cheers

Went to Brisbane in mine on Wednesday and had a good drive down. Came back from Bris on Wednesday night at 1015. Got on the Bruce and saw all the trucks sitting on 125 plus so was obvious that the long arm was indoors for the night. Did the 320 kms back home in 2hrs and 40mins....these turbo diesel Jettas are something else...they drive like they are on rails, believe me it got driven..

I'm going for a bit of a run down to Mornington tomorrow for work so it'll be interesting to see what the economy guage says. So far I've done about 250KM (mostly round town stuff) and it says there's still 600KM in the tank.

Have to say I'm enjoying driving the Jetta. It seems to be a quick point to point car and gets through traffic nicely. I reckon the run to work in it is quicker than in my Falcon.

                A week old today.

Typical isn't, you buy a nice shiny new car and it rains every other day. It'll get a wash on Saturday.

It needs lowering a little and a nice set of 19" wheels.

I like the look of the Audi A8 wheels that Tempe tyres have got.

                      Jetta FSI T - Silver

Mate your gunna love it. I've had mine since Feb. It was one of the first delivered for sale in OZ, I couldn't wait the six months for the GTI. Its now done 20,000k. I recently upgraded with the Oettinger stage one upgrade giving it 173kw & 400nm. It flies. You will notice the car has an acceleration delay. It is completely gone after the upgrade. I can no spin the wheel whilst travelling at 60kph just by pressing the accelerator to the floor. Its taken the car into the 6 second mark for 0-100. For $1900 bucks its well worth it.

                      The problems I have witnessed:

Top of the cold air box kept coming loose and falling into the belts. (is lost now waiting replacement) May replace it later with aftermarket tunnel ram

Brake booster, When I return the car after it been parked for some time, something makes the brake pedal goes rock hard intemittantly (and its not me) If this happens to you turn the key off and on, then advise your dealer.

You should be proud of your purchase, I am. My past eperience was with a Pug 206GTI. This car has restored my faith in new cars..

Awesome! How did this affect your fuel consumption?
