    I am able to get diesel at around $1.29 p/l at the moment in Nowra, NSW South Coast. Still a bit dearer than other areas.

    Just Googled these figures off the CarsGuide site,

    National average prices p/l

    * ULP 103.5
    * PULP 111.6
    * LPG 47.5
    * Diesel 125.5

      Also hard to pass up the idea of propane injection, increasing mileage AND power with a stock, warranty happy turbo.

      Think this will be in my future somewhere!

        It's true

        I can't believe I'm saying this, but I find our 2.0 TDI Pacific a more satisfying drive than our VE SS ute. Yes the V8 goes a little harder, but from point a to b, you get out of the car wondering why you would bother with the drama associated with pushing the SS hard to gain very little. The 125 kw TDI must be awsome.

              That sort of drives home gregozedobe's point about the difference in running costs between a diesel and a GTI doesn't it !!! Not a lot in it looking at those price comparisons.

                shogun,

                You live up this way or were you driving though? I find the BP cloer to Blackwood (next to tyrepower) much cheaper than up at Belair triangle.

                  I stepped out of a BA GT, and all I miss is the sound! A chipped one would bother a V8 alarmingly.

                    I agree. The rolling acceleration is unreal, much the same as my cousin's 300C and a WRX.

                      If you do have engine problems (esp with the turbo), do you really think that your VWA warranty will ignore the fact that you are running a different fuel ?

                      Also, it will be worth keeping a close eye on combustion and engine temps if running propane injection. I read recently about a bloke who blew up 2 motors in a row (he must have been a real slow learner ) running diesel gas in his motorhome.

                              For the record the difference between Ultimate ULP and Ultimate Diesel was 7cents/L at my local BP today. 115.9 vs 122.9. This is a "pricer" BP though.

                                I can't even find a servo in my area that sells premium diesel , I wouldn't mind trying a tank full one day to see if there's any noticeable difference in performance !!
