I'm in the same boat as you with my GT, looking to get some better brakes so I'm eager to hear how it turns out for you. I'm getting a quote on a 4 new DBA Rotors and some performance brakes pads. Not sure if I should go the slotted or slotted and drilled but prefer the drilled and slotted just purely for the looks. I've been advised this will be around $1000. As much as I like the idea of the R32 brakes I'd love to know where you can find some? If the dealer is asking $700 per rotor I dont even want to know the price for a set including calipers. Yeah the best thing would be to find a wrecked R32 but the chances of that are pretty minimal.
I have slotted discs on our Forester; fitted them when the car done 20,000km from new. It improved the braking a lot and Forester brakes were originally good too. So, if you fit slotted discs it wouldn't be just for the look. Make sure you use good quality brake pads too. I use Bendix Ultimate on the Forester.
I just got RDA slotted and dimpled front rotors for my Lexus 338mm fronts and they are just superb. They are now properly bedded in. Running stock pads and stock brake lines. Improvement on grab/feel/brake fade (or lack thereof) is just amazing. Got them from ABS for $550 for the pair. They reckon the "dimple" will get rid of the brake dust - not weaken the structural integrity of the disc whilst the slots keep making sure the surface of the pad is true which maximises contact as well as prevent glazing.
If the R32 disc is worth $700 each, I'd be looking elsewhere
Does anyone have a link to some piece of literature that states that the GT golf actually has the 312mm GTi brakes? I'm in the middle of argument with some knucklehead that claims the car only has the 288mm standard brakes.

try DBAs online International Catalogue. It lists the Mk5 1.4TSI as 312mm.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

Try Car Parts Plus at Lonsdale ask for Rob.
They have RDA brand (could be made in China) slotted for 1/2 the above price or less.
Take the wheel off and measure the diameter first if you going to ring them. PH. 83260377

I rang ABS and they tell me that MkV GTI's have many different kinds (sizes??) of rotors, so now I am worried they won't fit. Seems strange, however VW did ask for a chassis number before giving me a price on rotors and pads...also strange.
