Golf went "pop"

Was driving up the Old Belair Road hill to Blackwood this afternoon, when I heard a POP from the engine, and clouds of black smoke out the back. Engine didn't stall, but just lost all power.
I rang up roadside assist, and they saidf that my warranty ran out 5 months ago, so then rang Solitaire. The service manager said it was the intercooler pipe popped off. They sent an engineer out within 20 minutes. He couldn't fix it on the spot, so his buddy drove the Golf to Solitaire Hawthorn, where they put it on the hoist and fixed it in ten minutes.
ALL AT NO CHARGE!

What more can I say?

That was a result in this day and age. Must have been a slow news day at Solitaire.

Bet you weren't thinking easy fix when that happened.

I don't even know who or what the heck Solitaire is, but by the previous comments I assume they're some tight company that have let their guards down quite nicely for you. and so i say....nice work! heheh.

Solitaire used to be the only dealer in SA.
Some staff were nice, but many treated you like something stuck on the sole of their shoe

There are now 5 dealers - 2 are owned by Solitaire.

But three other dealers, I guess, has started to make things competitive!

They were obviously feeling festive due to the season, you wouldn't normally hear of that sort of generosity from most dealers, especially outside of the warranty period. I'd say it's Merry Christmas to you !!!

I certainly wasn't thinking of quick fix and freebies when it happenned, but sometimes Xmas and Santa do actually exist.
The one downside was that I met the Audi sales manager to pick up the keys, and had an interesting conversation about the Audi TT TDI, which he reckons will be in Oz sometime next year. With kids (most of) off our hands and the Golf four years old it may be time for an upgrade

This might be seen as a cynical comment,but an easy 10 minute fix in exchange for a new TT sale???? You do the math .

Not cynical at all. Anything for a sale these days ...
