RCD510 for Golf/Jetta?

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the RCD510 touch screen - 6 disc CD player is coming to the 09 Golf and Jetta? It seems to have been fitted to the Tiguan, Eos, and Passat models. Will it get fitted to the Golf/Jetta?

Its for the UK models but Im sure some of the changes will filter through to AUS. Forum member Boogz just picked up a new 1.4TSI Jetta and it has the new RCD310 which replaced the RCD300. This change is specified in that document along with the upgrade from RCD500 to RCD510.

Hi Im expecting to pick up my 09 Jetta this Friday and my dealer contacted me to tell me about the new RCD510 touch screen being included in the Jetta.

Thanks Dave_09JETTA. I am picking my TFSI up on Wednesday and fingers crossed it will be an 09 (should be) and it will have the RCD510.

Certainly we have seen some new Passat's come through with the new headunit in the past couple of months. Also the Jetta's with the new engine are in the showrooms now!

I went to my dealer today to sign the paperwork and had a look at my Jetta whilst I was there.

I am not sure of the build date cause I didnt see the plate but it was a new car just off the boat. It did not have the RCD510 It had the regular RCD500.

I asked the dealer and he told me that the RCD510 was going in the Passat, Eos, and Tiguan but not the Jetta. Strange...

Its ok as I have already received my AVC9000

Its probably because of country of manufacture - that's my guess.

I'm not 100% sure but the Jetta's are made in Mexico?

The reason I say this is because of the way the dealer handbooks are delivered - the Jetta's had supplementary stuff in them that the Golfs / Passat / Eos did not get. The dealer explained that these versions were from Mexico.

Assume no problems replacing your RCD500 with the RCD510?

Is it compatible still with the bluetooth my dealer installed (assume parrot but not sure)

Still deciding out of this option or the new AVC unit found here (cant decide how important satnav is to me, and personally DVD function useless if you cant play in motion)

I heard this somewhere, but Aussie Jetta's now come from South Africa

I just checked the build date of my Jetta and its July 08 so it would have just missed the MY09 changes if any.

I reckon anyone with an MY09 Jetta will get the RCD510.

It won't be coming in the current Golf 5, but comes in the MY09 Jetta, Tiguan, Eos, Passat. Touareg I'm unsure of, but I don't think so.


As of the 3rd week 09, the Jetta's are made in South Africa along with Polo!

45W (calender week)> The only european built car's for MY09 are Polo GTI, Tiguan, Eos, Passat & Touareg.
