  • Boost Gauge Install - TDI Jetta

    Hi All,

Firstly an apology to Mikinoz. Forgot to send image with PM and then discovered I'm unable to....

Now, I have got all the bits together for a mechanical boost gauge install and am wondering where the best point is for either a T fitting or a tap point for the pressure signal. This is my first oil burner so want to get this right the first time.
Attached is a pic of the engine (sans cover) if anyone could insert an arrow as to best signal point, I'd be much obliged.

    Cheers Craig

have not fitted a boost gauge on mk5 tdi yet but i think you will need to use the single tap point rather than the T fiiting. and tap into the intercooler pipework at the lower front of the car near the radiator.

the best advise though would come from someone that has done it.

Thanks Nayfen, have read conflicting accounts as to where to tap in. both before and after the intercooler. One pic from above cause it was wet today and nobody likes to lie on the wet cement!

once again not the expert but imo dont think it matters. which ever gives the shortest and easiest path for the tubing back to gauge

          This is spot on.

I did mine into the plastic intercooler pipe towards the passenger side as I ran the tube through the grommet on the passenger firewall near the glove box.

Make sure it is not on the bottom of the pipe so oil that might end up in the intercooler does not enter the pipe.

Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you!

a few extra pics would not hurt. dont think there is a how to for mk5 tdi boost gauge install. This may be the starting point.
