  • Aux/Ipod input

I paid $300+ for the stupid Ipod connector which has v limited functions, and now my centre console Aux input doesn't seem to work... I tried plugging in my Ipod Nano with the song playing... and press the "CD" button twice like I do with the Ipod connector, but no source shows up...

So, does having the optional Ipod connector disable the standard Aux input?

Yep. Yep. Yep. (had to do it three times as you can't post less then 10 characters)

I'm getting my first Golf 3 January and have got the iPod adapter thrown in. I normally just have the ipod on shuffle when I'm in the car. My question is what is best. The iPod adapter (just to use on shuffle) or just go with the Aux input which I guess is in the center console. Actually where exactly is it in a Golf Pacific. Under the arm rest?

      Thanks guys

the stupid thing was, i was told the 08 Golf GTI WOULD NOT come with a standard Aux input; so I coughed up the money to get an Ipod adaptor

I only realised after paying for the car and options, after reading the forums, that some GTIs got them, and some GTIs didn't, mainly the later build 08 models got them, even though the Australian GTI spec PDF says all GTIs should have them. My Camberwell dealer salesperson said that only the Satnav option would get me a standard Aux input...

So not only did I get a useless Ipod adaptor that has such limited function, I've also ruined a perfectly good Aux input!

any ideas? make the dealer get both working? rip out Ipod adaptor and get refund from dealer?

DIY switch to alternate between Ipod/Aux inputs?

I'm pretty sure you could run both at the same time but not at the same time if you know what I mean.

If you connected both of the cd changers audio inputs but didn't use the 3.5mm jack and the ipod connector at the same time it should work. The old connectors from the 3.5mm hack are most likely hanging out of the loom that goes to the back of the headunit.
