I have been thinking about it and I reckon it would be dead easy to fit an led light near the switch hooked up to the interior lights.
      Worth considering??

I like the idea of the Jap plastic ring but at $150
        The led idea sound plausible.

I can't actually see the point in illuminating the ignition switch, as it's hidden a fair bit on the column.

I agre with Yom and Maris. I find it easier to put the key in the ignition while the interior light is on, just before I get into the car. It is more difficult to put the key in once you are sitting in the seat, even during daylight.

And while the light is on you can see whether there is a mugger or carjacker hiding on the rear seat too !

What do muggers have to do with ignition hole lights?
              You're off topic.
