Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I noticed an option for a small rubbish bin that can fit into the front door side pockets where the drink bottle goes. Anyone know where I can get one or something similar?

I've been trying to source one from overseas for a while. VW sell them over the parts counter but for $98. I have the part number around somewhere if you need it.

Thanks but for that price, I can try looking for an alternative. If I do find something, I'll post it here.

Did I buy a Falcon or a Commodore?

Cut off plastic bottles and plastic bags are not going to be cluttering the clean uncluttered interior of the Golf

no, because they are more expensive.

however, did you buy a Ferrari??

if you didn't, why waste 100 dollars on a bin that will fit 1 empty drink bottle .

if you don't want clutter, take your rubbish with you when you get out....it's not that hard. i'd much rather do that than leave a bag of rubbish in my car!

                Gentlemen, gentlemen, please!

I need to find something that will do the job and can be sealed. A cut drink bottle or plastic bag won't do. I need something that can stay in the car for a couple of days before being tipped out. Being sealed, it won't look as messy or out of place. It will only be used to store discarded paper.

No but that doesn't change me not wanting to have cut off plastic bottles or plastic bags in my car. The Golf interior is very uncluttered and I've gone to great lengths to keep it that way (Skoda bluetooth, RNS510 and so on) and I'm not going to have rubbish all over the inside of the car after spending so much to have an uncluttered car.

if you didn't, why waste 100 dollars on a bin that will fit 1 empty drink bottle .
Given that I spent close to $55K on the car is $100 really that much.

And if you read my post I have been trying to obtain these cheaper from overseas! I would pay $80-100 for two of the bins.

And what do you do with the rubbish when you're driving?

I suppose with boogers you could stick them on the headlining and pick them off when you get to your destination, me I would rather put them into a refuse container for later disposal.

and how am i supposed to know you have a GTI

CatonaPC's car is a Golf TDi Pacific, i assumed your's was the same.

and more 's for you. yes, more expensive!.......unless you are one of these idiots that compare your top of the line car with a base model car of another brand....here's another one for good measure

                      - $100 is expensive for a bin and not worth it, no matter what car you're in

                      - i put the rubbish on the seat next to me until i get out, i'm never in the car long enough to need a rubbish bag.

                      - i don't pick my nose, i'm civilised and use a tissue!

                              guys you're all wrong.

boogers are nature's crisp, fresh and plentiful bounty.

if you dont want to eat that delighftully salty little product from your nose, simply flick it out the window.
